Apollo maintains a longstanding association with the Sri Lankan healthcare sector. Previously, Apollo Proton Cancer Center (APCC) of India introduced the availability of Proton Therapy treatment for patients from Sri Lanka at its state-of-the-art facility in Chennai. At a press conference hosted at the Hilton Colombo Residences, APCC, the sole Proton Therapy Center in South Asia and the Middle East, highlighted the pivotal role of Proton Therapy in enhancing the outcomes of cancer treatment and the overall quality of survivorship. The center, accredited by JCI as India’s first Cancer hospital, showcased its recent accomplishment of conducting a complex treatment for a rare liver cancer case in a Sri Lankan patient.

Additionally, Apollo Hospitals Group has also introduced a dedicated helpline number in Sri Lanka, bridging patients and physicians to Med Connect representatives, thereby providing seamless access to Apollo Hospitals’ extensive repository of medical resources. This strategic initiative was announced by Sri Lankan Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella. Dr. Nilmini Withana, Representative of Apollo Hospitals Sri Lanka, emphasized the helpline’s role in connecting the two nations and fostering enhanced accessibility for patients and healthcare practitioners. Furthermore, Dr. Withana highlighted the strong collaboration between Apollo and the Sri Lankan medical community, hinting at upcoming health awareness initiatives in the future.
