UK (Commonwealth)_ Good news for foodies and restaurant owners alike! Captain AI, the brainchild of Canadian entrepreneurs, has just received a significant boost of $2.1 million in seed funding. This injection of capital is set to supercharge their mission of transforming food delivery logistics in both Canada and the United States.

For the past six years, Captain AI has been diligently crafting an ingenious artificial intelligence platform tailored to revolutionize the way restaurant chains manage their in-house food delivery operations. Their unwavering dedication has culminated in a robust offering, with Pizza Pizza as their flagship client. With over 730 locations across Canada, Pizza Pizza’s partnership with Captain AI has been a game-changer. According to Captain AI’s co-founder and CEO, Ryan Perera, this collaboration was a pivotal factor in their decision to relocate back to their Canadian roots.

Founded in London, UK, in 2017 by Perera and design maestro Dihan Algama, Captain AI has been making waves with their AI-powered software. It is tailored to enhance delivery speed, streamline kitchen workflows, and ultimately, enrich the customer experience. One of their groundbreaking achievements has been enabling nationwide live order tracking for Pizza Pizza.

Captain AI’s journey began with a 60-minute delivery startup, Henchman, which took on early rivalries with Deliveroo in 2014. In the process, they developed their own software to optimize delivery operations. It wasn’t long before they recognized the potential of this technology for the broader restaurant industry, leading them to sell Henchman in 2016 and focus wholeheartedly on their current venture.

Ryan Perera emphasizes that Captain AI’s firsthand experience in delivery operations sets them apart. While some restaurants rely on third-party services like Uber Eats and DoorDash, others maintain their own fleet of drivers. Surprisingly, many in the latter group aren’t leveraging technology to manage their drivers efficiently. Captain AI is here to change that, ensuring that restaurants with their own driver fleets can compete on an equal footing, both economically and operationally.

Captain AI’s participation in Techstars Toronto’s 2022 cohort played a pivotal role in their decision to make Canada their home once more. They plan to incorporate in Canada early next year, with their sights set on launching an innovative smart kitchen system that will guide cooks on the optimal order for preparing items based on driver return times.

Currently, Captain AI handles an impressive 500,000 deliveries monthly worldwide, but there’s still immense room for growth. Their focus on product development has been unwavering, and now they’re gearing up to bring their groundbreaking solutions to a wider market. The primary goal? To extend Captain AI’s reach to more restaurant chains across North America.

With this fresh infusion of capital, Captain AI is poised to invest heavily in sales and marketing efforts. Their ambition? To empower even more restaurant chains with the tools they need to thrive in the fast-paced world of food delivery.

So, if you’re a foodie who loves the convenience of restaurant delivery, or a restaurant owner looking to up your delivery game, keep an eye on Captain AI. They’re set to revolutionize the way we experience and manage food deliveries, one restaurant at a time!
