Hotels (Commonwealth Union) _ Miskin Manor Hotel and Spa, a well-known four-star hotel and wedding venue in Pontyclun, South Wales, has been put up for sale after entering administration last month. The property, a Grade-II listed manor set in 23 acres, has been brought to market by Christie & Co, the property adviser. The sale involves the freehold interest in the business, which continues to operate. With a history dating back to 1985 when it was transformed into a country manor house hotel, the property has become a popular choice for weddings and a prominent hotel in the region. The 42-bedroom hotel offers various amenities, including conference and events facilities, a health club and spa, a restaurant, and three helipads.

No specific guide price has been established, and interested parties are invited to submit offers. The property has historical significance, having been owned by various individuals, including the Prince of Glamorgan’s daughter and Judge Gwilym Williams. Despite facing challenges that led to the administration, the immediate focus of the appointed joint administrators, Gareth Harris and Diana Frangou of RSM UK Restructuring Advisory LLP, is to stabilize the hotel’s operations. The administrators are pursuing a sale of the property as a going concern.

Richard Thomas, a senior hotel broker at Christie & Co, emphasized the unique opportunity the sale presents, describing it as a once-in-a-generation chance to acquire a historically significant Welsh hotel. He highlighted the property’s proximity to key demand generators, such as Cardiff city centre and the Welsh countryside. Thomas also noted the considerable interest in the business before the official launch of the sale. The administration was prompted by cash flow pressures, leading the directors to make the difficult decision. While certain operational challenges resulted in short-term event cancellations, the administrators expressed regret for any distress caused and are actively working to resolve the situation promptly. The hotel aims to resume trading as soon as possible, and affected customers will be contacted with further information
