Europe (Commonwealth Union)_The hunt is on for a mystery lotto player who won a million-dollar prize just in time for Christmas

The lucky player purchased their ticket in the Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto.  Frustratingly, the player cannot be notified by officials since they are an unregistered player.

The elusive winner was the sole winner, claiming the first division prize of $1million in Wednesday night’s draw.

The husband and wife owners of the store Kashyap and Chetna Patel who sold the winning ticket had only recently taken over Spar Lawnton, north of Brisbane.

Kashyap Patel told Daily Mail Australia, ‘We found out early this morning. It was shocking. We only started here only a month ago’.

When asked if he thought he and his wife were lucky because the winning ticket was sold at his shop, he said ‘My wife is lucky because she is the one who was in the store all day and she is the one who sold the ticket.’

He joked, ‘We don’t need any lucky charms because the store has us,’ and their store does not have any lucky charms or displays set-up.

Mr. Patel said although they put up posters celebrating the win, surprisingly no-one has claimed it yet.   He said it would be a wonderful moment when the mystery ticketholder checks their ticket and finds out they have won $1 million right before Christmas.’

The Lotto spokesperson Anna Hobdell said she couldn’t wait to speak to the Moreton Bay region’s latest division one winner.

She said ‘It is very likely this division one winner is oblivious to the fact they became a millionaire in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw’.

‘We are urging anyone who purchased a Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto entry at Spar Lawnton to check their tickets as soon as possible.

‘Imagine if the Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket that’s sitting in your back pocket, tucked in your purse or under a magnet on your fridge is worth $1 million!’

Wednesday night’s win comes days after players were urged by The Lotto to check their old tickets.

There is still $18million of unclaimed prize money across 20 tickets since 2016.

However, there are only days left to claim the oldest division one win of $1.3 million from a ticket purchased in Lutwyche in Queensland on December 31, 2016.
