American Airlines Flight Overruns Runway in Dallas-Fort Worth

Airlines (Commonwealth Union)_An incident took place on Saturday evening at DFW Airport at about 7:41 p.m.

N991AN is a 14.7 year old Boeing 737-800 that was delivered to the U.S carrier back in June 2009 as per data from Planespotters.net.

Of the 737-800 variant, the airline has 303 of them in the fleet, out of which 293 are in active service and 10 are currently parked, offering an average fleet age of 14.3 years.

American Airlines flight AA1632 is a scheduled routine flight between Washington National Airport in DC and Dallas-Fort Worth, with the affected rotation overrunning the runway being operated by N991AN.

American Airlines flight AA1632 departed Washington at 1707 local time on 10th February and proceeded in a south-westerly direction towards DFW.

There were no reported injuries among the 99 passengers and six crew members on board, when the American Airlines flight from Washington National overran the runway on landing in Dallas-Fort Worth over the weekend while landing due to a braking malfunction. 

The entire flight was routinely normal until it reached the landing phase into DFW.   AA1632 came to a stop only on the runway end safety area past the runway end as per The Aviation Herald,.

In a statement, American Airlines said that there were no reported injuries. The FAA which is investigating, said passengers and crew were deplaned and bused to the terminal. 

It is understood that no major injuries were suffered as a result of this incident apart from three main tyres being deflated, with the aircraft being towed to the apron an hour and a half after arrival into Dallas-Fort Worth. American Airlines said that they were fully cooperating with the FAA’s investigation into the incident.  The plane, a Boeing 737-800, which was manufactured in 2009 had departed from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C
