Diaspora (Commonwealth Union) _ The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, convened a significant meeting with the Edo Diaspora Community in Europe on Monday night. This event, held at Reggio Emilia Via Cherubino Forzani in Reggio Emilia, Italy, was the first of its kind since Ighodalo emerged as the PDP candidate and was streamed to supporters in Edo State via Zoom, attracting impressive attendance.
Accompanied by his wife, Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, the candidate shared his ambitious plans for Edo State. The meeting coincided with the release of his manifesto, “The Pathway to Prosperity for All,” which has garnered extensive positive reviews on social media. Ighodalo passionately appealed for support to transform Edo State into a first-world sub-national entity, emphasizing the feasibility of this vision.
“Our idea of a pathway to prosperity for all is designed to plan and implement the next phase of our journey towards becoming a first-world sub-national. We must harness our God-given resources and the immense potential of our people and translate them into shared and inclusive prosperity for all. I believe it can be done. That’s why I am running for the office of Governor,” he declared.
The session included a comprehensive question-and-answer segment, where Ighodalo addressed inquiries on various critical issues such as security, infrastructure, the economy, food security, the Diaspora Commission, health, and agriculture. He adeptly referenced his manifesto, detailing how he plans to tackle these issues if elected.
Ighodalo acknowledged the accomplishments of the current government under Governor Godwin Obaseki, vowing to build on these successes and make necessary adjustments where needed. He expressed gratitude to those who attended the meeting, thanking them for their support and dedication to the future of Edo State.
In closing, Ighodalo assured the attendees that he would not disappoint them if elected as governor, pledging to uphold their trust and work tirelessly for the prosperity of Edo State.
