A memorandum of understanding for nanotechnology research!

Mumbai, India (CU)_ In an attempt to boost industry-academia collaboration, Shoolini University and Vardhman Textiles Limited (VTL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to improve nanotechnology research. As a result, Vardhman Textiles will donate INR 3 crore for nanotechnology research at Shoolini University. Shoolini University’s goal is to employ nanomaterials and methodologies at its modern lab to find solutions for environmental detoxification, clean energy production, and waste management.

Vardhman will provide Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM)/Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM) equipment as part of the deal. The new lab will play a key role in assisting the university in improving the skills of students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, as well as in conducting research on topics such as cancer biology, biotechnology, food technology, photocatalysis, and water purification. Once established, the lab will improve research efficiency, as well as enable students to apply their expertise more quickly.

In the presence of S P Oswal, Chairman and Managing Director of Vardhman Group, Prof PK Khosla, Chancellor of Shoolini University, and Prafull Anubhai Patel, Chairman of CSR and Director of Vardhman Textiles, signed the MoU. Prof Khosla expressed delight over the partnership and explained the significance of this initiative. He said, “Industry-academia partnership is the right step for application of research for societal benefits. The support that Vardhman is giving for establishing this lab in Shoolini University will go a long way in promoting this. The lab is named after SP Oswal’s father – Ratan Chand Oswal Himalayan Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology — will help to sprout the seeds of this joint partnership”.

According to Praful Anubhai Patel from Vardhman, the organization was devoted to holistic development and viewed education and access to adequate healthcare as crucial factors. He spoke about the company’s goal towards sustainable development. He said, “With sustainable development as our goal, we find it a privilege to be able to give back. As a responsible corporate citizen, we willingly contribute to social causes and participate in the development of communities that host us.”
