Aamir Khan shares memories of Lagaan on its 20th anniversary

 his character Bhuvan in the film were actually owned by his wife Kiran Rao, who worked as an assistant director in the movie. Aamir said that he was not close to her at that time. He said, “I did not know her very well. We had just met once or twice”. Their conversation started like this. He said, “When I saw her earrings, I was like, ‘Yaar, ye earrings mujhe theek lag rahe hain‘(they seem perfect). But Kiran said, ‘If it comes to continuity, you won’t have them’. I was like, ‘We will give you new ones. Let me try this’ So she gave me her earrings and when I put them on, they were perfect”.

Lagaan cast included Aamir Khan who co-starred with Gracy Singh. The other actors of the movie are veteran actors such as Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Rajendra Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Rajesh Vivek, Pradeep Rawat, and British actresses Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne who all became famous screen personalities.

Lagaan was filmed in Gujarat and was set in the Victorian age. The movie featured the story of a little village whose residents were abused by excessive tax rates. To overcome the issue, the officers and villagers play cricket as a bet to avoid paying taxes. The film’s production, which was a fascinating process, has a strong grip on the story.
