Sydney, Australia (CU)_ Amazon is launching two new health and fitness services, as well as its Halo personal health devices. Halo Fitness, which is a new interactive home video exercise program similar to Apple Fitness+, and Halo Nutrition, which is a personalized guide book for planning the diet, are the two new services.
The two health services will be available to customers of Amazon’s Halo membership who use the Halo series of fitness trackers, which now includes the Halo View activity tracker with an OLED display. The cost of Halo membership is $3.99 per month following a six-month free trial coupled with Halo Band or a 12-month free trial with Halo View. According to Amazon, both of these additional features will be available to the customers soon. Fitness will be available by the end of this year and Nutrition in January 2022.
Halo Fitness delivers studio-quality workouts conducted by industry experts, as well as real-time monitoring of parameters such as heart rate and heart rate intensity zone as detected by Halo fitness bands. The exercises will be led by popular trainers such as Michael Hildebrand, Elena Cheung, and Elizabeth Andrews, and will feature cardio, strength, yoga, outdoor, and mobility courses.
Halo Nutrition will provide recipe discovery and meal planning services, including the choices to make customized meals based on dietary choices and needs, as well as pre-curated menus for particular diets such as traditional, keto, Mediterranean, Nordic, paleo, vegan, and vegetarian. During the launch, Amazon claimed that it will include a library of 500 plus recipes from partners such as Whole Foods and WW, in association with Alexa Shopping List for locating supplies.
