Amrita School of Biotechnology and University of Arizona team up to launch a dual degree program in biological sciences

Hyderabad, India (CU)_ A new dual degree program in biological sciences has been introduced by Amrita School of Biotechnology in partnership with the University of Arizona. Students seeking life science courses such as Cellular and Molecular Medicine programs at the University of Arizona can now apply online via amrita.edu, the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s official website. Students enrolled in this program will be able to earn two degrees: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s MSc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Bioinformatics and University of Arizona’s MS in Cellular and Molecular Medicine.

According to the university’s statement, students applying to this exclusive dual degree program will be benefited from both the universities. Students can also conduct their research in University of Arizona’s laboratories as well as take advantage of the benefit from this innovative approach of flexible unique degrees in a two-year period.

According to Professor Bipin Nair, Dean of Amrita School of Biotechnology’s Faculty of Science, the partnership was a strategic combination of the two universities’ strengths in terms of academic passion and research competence. According to Dr. Maneesha Ramesh, Dean of International Programs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, the collaboration with the University of Arizona is a strategically essential move to guarantee that the students of Amrita University avail the best-in-class training to succeed in their career.

Carol C. Gregorio, University of Arizona’s Head of the Cellular and Molecular Medicine Department, expressed delight over the collaboration. He said, “We are honored to have entered this dual degree partnership with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University…this opportunity allows us to push the boundaries in our own university by tapping expertise of our renowned and internationally recognized faculty. This exciting opportunity is part of our larger mission to expand access to Arizona Health Sciences education within the US and around the world”.
