Apollo Hospitals opens advanced Cancer Center in Bhubaneswar

It is the state’s first and only cancer center installed with advanced linear accelerator technology known as HD TrueBeam STx that offers the most accurate radiation therapy treatment for the best results. The center also features advanced Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography equipment (PET CT). The 64 slice PET CT scanner is installed with all innovative technologies to perform all kinds of PET CT procedures, including PET guided biopsies.

Patnaik opened the center with the presence of honorable guests including Sulochana Das, the City Mayor-elect, and Susanta Rout, the Bhubaneswar North MLA. The three-story facility, which covers an area of 50,000 square feet, features 17 chemotherapy-specific beds. Additionally, it serves as a key referral center for residents of Odisha and surrounding states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and parts of West Bengal. Apollo Cancer Center includes dedicated cancer management teams specialized in certain specific organs that achieve remarkable clinical results.

Preetha Reddy, the executive vice-chairperson at Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, expressed optimism over the new facility. She said, “Reaffirming our resolute commitment to provide best-in-class advanced cancer care, the Apollo Cancer Center in Bhubaneswar led by a fine team of oncologists and equipped with cutting edge medical technologies, including Odisha’s first TrueBeam® radiotherapy system, will persevere to set new benchmarks in patient care in the region”.

Dinesh Madhavan, the president of Group Oncology and International at Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, expressed pride over the new launch.
