Australian passports are among the strongest in the world. So, where may it lead you?

AUSTRALIA (Commonwealth Union)_An worldwide citizenship aid organisation has assessed the world’s passports based on their strength, and Australia has once again ranked in the top ten. Every year, Henley & Partners compiles a list of the most powerful passports, with Japan topping the list for the sixth year in a row.

Australian passport holders can travel to 185 countries with relative easily, but there is still a big list of nations that require paperwork. Discover how passports are ranked and where your Australian passport might take you.

The Henley Passport Index is based on how many countries persons with certain passports can visit without a visa; however, the overall score includes nations that require passport holders to obtain a visa upon arrival, a visitor’s permission, or an electronic travel authority.

Henley & Partners’ ranking is based on 227 destinations, which include both countries and places that aren’t officially recognised as countries, such as Taiwan. It only ranks 199 passports, though.The index is created using unique data from the International Air Transport Association.

Australia received a score of 185. It is placed eighth, alongside Canada, Greece, and Malta, and trails 22 other countries on higher rankings. This is consistent with the previous three years, when it was likewise placed eighth. Since the index’s inception in 2006, Australia’s lowest ranking has been ninth in 2019, 2010, and 2006. In 2015, 2013, and 2012, Australia was ranked sixth.

Citizens in these nations have fewer options for travel if they want to avoid roadblocks or paperwork.
