India (Commonwealth) _The Bengal women’s cricket team achieved the most successful run chase in women’s one-day cricket, creating history. They accomplished this at the Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground C in Rajkot during their Senior Women’s Trophy 2024 matchup with Haryana. In women’s cricket in List A, it is a record.

Bengal players broke the previous record, which Northern Districts and Canterbury set in a domestic match in 2019, as they sought 390.

The previous women’s list’s world record chase In the New Zealand one-day tournament, Northern Districts defeated Canterbury by 309 runs. Canterbury scored 308/7 in their 50-over quota in 2019, and Northern Districts hit 312/7 in 44 overs. Prior to this, Railways’ 2021 victory over Chandigarh 356/4 was the best domestic one-day score.

When Sri Lanka chased 305 runs against South Africa in 2024, earlier this year, they owned the previous record on the international front. Prior to Bengal’s victory, the highest domestic one-day score was 356/4, which was achieved by Railways against Chandigarh in 2021.

Bengal’s victory in this match was largely due to “Player of the Match” Tanusree Sarkar, who scored 113 off 83 balls, including 20 fours. With five balls remaining, they secured their spot in the semi-final by hitting the target.

“It was an incredible triumph,” Bengal head coach Probal Dutta remarked. “I informed the girls at yesterday’s pre-game meeting that the field would be batting-friendly, and nobody should ever become alarmed.

According to a media statement from the Cricket Association of Bengal, he exhorted batters during today’s innings break to “have faith and believe in themselves and we can do it.”

After batting, Shafali Verma‘s brilliant 197 off 115 deliveries helped Haryana amass a respectable 389/5. With an innings that included 22 fours and 11 sixes, Verma, who has been underutilised for India’s shorter formats, proved her abilities. After hitting 139 from 98 balls against Uttar Pradesh, she achieved her 2nd century of the tournament with this one.

Haryana kept up their pace even after Verma left in the 39th over because of important contributions from Sonia Mendhiya (61) and Triveni Vasistha (46).

With opening batters Dhara Gujjar and Sasthi Mondal establishing a strong platform by reaching the team’s 100 runs in just nine overs, Bengal’s response was quick and decisive. Mondal added 52 off 29 balls to Gujjar’s explosive 69 off 49 balls. Batting at number three, Sarkar was instrumental with the bat and the ball, taking 3/56 after using her medium pace to dismiss Reema Sisodia, Diya Yadav, and Vasistha.

Bengal maintained the necessary run rate thanks to wicketkeeper Priyanka Bala’s undefeated 88 off 81 balls and Prativa Rana’s 28 off 26 balls, eventually taking the lead.  A 173-run initial match-winning winning partnership with Reema Sisodia, who added 58 runs, supported Verma’s innings. resulting in their historic triumph in the end.

The 15th edition of India’s domestic women’s T20 competition, the Women’s Senior T20 Trophy, took place in 2023–2024. The event, which took place from October 19 to November 9, 2023, divided 37 teams into five groups. In April 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that the competition would be a part of the 2023–24 Indian domestic cricket season. The reigning champions, Railways, lost in the quarterfinals.

Mumbai defeated Uttarakhand in the final to win the championship and their first title. There were three groups of seven and two groups of eight among the 37 teams who participated in the competition. In a round-robin style, teams faced off against one another once in their group.

Each group’s top two teams advanced to the knockout round. While the teams placed seven to 10 played pre-quarterfinals, the teams ranked one to six advanced directly to the quarterfinals. There was a Twenty20 format for the matches.

The groups developed a points system, and the overall number of points determined each group’s rank. If the final table’s points were equal, we sorted teams by most victories, head-to-head record, and net run rate.Points were given out in this manner:

Win: four points.
