Blinken tells African youth to ‘beware of China’

WASHINGTON (CU)_During his virtual visit to Nigeria and Kenya, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken cautioned African youth regarding China’s growing influence in the region. During a discussion with young Africans who have studied in the US, the Secretary of State urged African nations to approach their diplomatic ties with other countries with their “eyes wide open”.

 “We’re not asking anyone to choose between the United States or China, but I would encourage you to ask those tough questions, to dig beneath the surface, to demand transparency and to make informed choices about what is best for you and your countries,” the top US diplomat said.
