Boris Johnson pays a visit to the Gujarat Biotechnology University and the Akshardham Temple

Ahmedabad, Gujarat (CU)_ The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited Gujarat state as part of his two-day trip to India. Johnson visited the newly constructed Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU) campus in Gandhinagar and also paid a visit to the state capital’s iconic Akshardham Temple.

The Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel accompanied the British Prime Minister to the Akshardham Temple. According to a statement made by Jitu Vaghani, Science and Technology Minister of the state, following Johnson’s visit, GBU, which is a post-graduate institution founded recently by the Gujarat government, is the country’s first of its kind university specializing in biotechnology.

The varsity was founded in partnership with the United Kingdom’s University of Edinburgh. According to the statement, following his greeting by Patel at the university premises, Johnson was given a tour of the campus and was briefed on the operations of all departments.

Vaghani stated that GBU will soon have a state-of-the-art testing facility and a research building and that the university provides programs in medical, environmental, and industrial biotechnology, among other fields. According to another official announcement, Johnson also paid a visit to Gandhinagar’s Akshardham Temple before concluding his one-day Gujarat tour. The BAPS Swaminarayan sect operates the great temple.

When Johnson arrived, he also met with Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani in Gujarat. Sharing a picture with the British prime minister on Twitter, Adani expressed delight over greeting Boris Johnson. He tweeted, “Honored to host Boris Johnson, the first UK PM to visit Gujarat, at Adani HQ. Delighted to support the climate and sustainability agenda with a focus on renewables, green H2 and new energy. Will also work with UK companies to co-create defense and aerospace technologies.”
