Aviation and Airlines (Commonwealth Union) _ Iberia has become the latest member of the joint business partnership between British Airways and Qatar Airways, solidifying the world’s largest airline joint business. This partnership covers over 180 destinations in 60 countries, and with Iberia’s inclusion, passengers can now access more than 200 destinations through the three airlines.

In response to the expansion, Iberia will launch a new daily service from Madrid Barajas International airport to Hamad International airport, beginning on December 11, 2023. The flight will be operated using an Airbus A330-200 with 288 seats in business and economy cabins. With Iberia’s addition, the Madrid-Doha route will now be served three times daily by both Iberia and Qatar Airways.

This joint business venture enhances connectivity for travelers between the Iberian Peninsula and key markets in the Middle East and beyond. Passengers will also have access to a wide range of premium products, including Qatar Airways’ Qsuite, Iberia’s Business Class, and British Airways’ Club Suite.

To further benefit passengers, members of British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus, and Qatar Airways Privilege Club will be able to earn and redeem Avios as the common currency. Qatar Airways adopted Avios as its reward currency last year, allowing loyalty members to transfer Avios between accounts and combine balances to claim rewards offered by each program.

Iberia’s CEO, Fernando Candela, expressed excitement about joining the partnership and the launch of the Madrid-Doha route, which aligns with Spain’s vision for high-quality tourism.

British Airways’ chairman and CEO, Sean Doyle, emphasized the commitment to providing customers with a wide range of choices and the benefits of connecting British Airways with more than 200 destinations worldwide through the collaboration with Madrid and Doha.
