COVID 19 pandemic, Bluewater Health has advanced in the ranks of Canada’s leading hospitals. The hospital is placed 32nd on Statista Inc.’s list, which was published by Newsweek. In 2019, the hospital ranked 50th place, while in 2020 and 2021, it was placed in 38th rank.
According to Julia Oosterman, communications chief, it would not be possible without the dedication of the site’s team. Oosterman attributed the success to the hospital staff. She said, “We absolutely have been so blessed throughout the pandemic and even before, and we will continue to be post-pandemic, to have an incredibly dedicated group of several thousand individuals who work in our hospital. We are so blessed. I think the strength of the people is really what has shone through over the pandemic.”

According to Oosterman, Bluewater Health is the top-ranked hospital in Canada outside of a mega-city. She expressed pride over the hospital’s hi-tech infrastructure. She said, “We do have incredible infrastructure in Sarnia-Lambton. We live in a community that’s been very generous in helping support the hospital. As a result, we do have state-of-the-art MRI, state-of-the-art CT scanners, and some beautiful equipment like mammography machines. These are all things which fall under quality of care.”
Oosterman noted that Bluewater Health’s equipment infrastructure has advanced in recent years, with the addition of new equipment like MRI scanners, mammography machines, and CT scanners. The rating, which is based on physician recommendations, also considers things like wait times, infection rates, and patient opinions and remarks.
