This sustained growth reflects the increasing global demand for qualifications that provide a trusted route to higher education.

Schools in Sri Lanka made over 13,000 entries for Cambridge exams in the June ’26 series. This equipped students with the academic knowledge and independent thinking, as well as problem-solving skills, required to succeed at university & beyond. Over 1,500 students are receiving Cambridge International AS & A Level results. They are recognised by more than 2,500 universities worldwide. The most popular subjects were physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics, besides business.

Cambridge IGCSE & O Level results were released to nearly 1,700 students in Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 18 August. Entries across all qualifications reflect that learners are increasingly combining strengths in science, mathematics, and computing as well as business. This is as they prepare for higher education & careers in a rapidly changing global economy.

Group Managing Director for International Education at Cambridge, Rod Smith, congratulated all students who received results on 11 August, besides others on 18 August. More students are turning to Cambridge A Levels as they combine deep subject knowledge. Additionally, these A Levels provide the skills that universities and employers value most. This year’s continued growth reflects that more students than ever recognise the power of that combination in a world shaped by AI. Smith added that he believes Cambridge International A Levels may matter even more in the years ahead.

Cambridge’s Senior Vice President for International Education in South Asia, Vinay Sharma, said that young people are increasingly looking towards fields that sit at the intersection of science and technology as well as innovation. This is also whilst recognising the importance of gaining a broad & internationally recognised education. It’s encouraging to witness students pursuing ambitious academic goals & equipping themselves for careers that may shape the future.

Cambridge’s country head, Sri Lanka & the Maldives, Zahara Ansary, said that Cambridge is incredibly proud of the learners receiving results achieved during the present year. The wide range of subjects chosen by students is particularly noteworthy. It reflects the aspirations of Sri Lankan learners in pursuing higher education opportunities besides building successful careers in an increasingly interconnected world. Cambridge qualifications continue providing a strong foundation for students. That’s developing the knowledge and confidence besides academic capabilities required in taking their next steps.

Trusted by the globe’s leading universities

Cambridge International A Levels’ standing as a route into higher education’s borne out by new UCAS application data. 98% of Cambridge International A Level students who applied to UK universities in the ’25 cycle received at least a single offer of a place. This demonstrates the strength of the qualification as a proven pathway to higher education.

Director of University Pathways & Progression at Cambridge, Kevin Ebenezer, said that Cambridge International A Levels continue to earn the confidence of the globe’s leading universities. This is as they prepare students not simply to gain admission but also to thrive once they have gained admission. Higher education becomes increasingly competitive. Universities seek students with academic depth and resilience besides the ability to think independently. Cambridge qualifications develop those qualities. Today, Cambridge learners represent around 1 in 8 international students, accessing British universities. They provide compelling evidence of the enduring value & global recognition of Cambridge International A Levels.

Smith added that the flexibility of Cambridge International A Levels also provides students with the option of remaining in their home country to study remotely. International education with Cambridge is as international as necessary, but as local as possible. Whether students choose to study at home or overseas, Cambridge International qualifications open doors to opportunity besides preparing learners for success in a rapidly changing world.
