Health professionals of the UK Government’s has finally spoke about the mystery virus which is taking hold of China. Recently the Daily Star reported  that, how scientists are beginning to get worried by an undiagnosed form of pneumonia which is taking hold in Beijing and Liaoning.

It’s a rapid sweep across the cities, which has led to it being declared an epidemic by ProMED, which is the international society for infectious diseases.

The World Health Organisation was extremely worried enough to have commented, admitting that they need more information. After some days China claimed that the mystery illness can be attributed to multiple known pathogens.

Dame Jenny Harries, who was highly involved in the UK’s Coronavirus pandemic response, is the chief executive of UK’s Health Security Agency said, from China the WHO has got an official response, following its request for complete information on an increase in respiratory illnesses and informed many groups of pneumonia in children.

We need to keep an open mind about the cause of any increased reporting of clusters of disease including of this infection in Chinese children. UKHSA is monitoring closely the situation and will continue to work with international partners to assess the emerging information as it becomes available.

The comments came in just after 24 hours, when the WHO claimed that it was still monitoring the situation, which has seen hospitals overcrowded with children who have caught the infection and which apparently has no symptoms at the beginning but with just a high temperature being the first sign.

No further details about what happens to someone who catches it, have been given.

However, contrary to many reports from news outlets with sources on the ground, a WHO spokesman said: Chinese authorities advised that there has been no detection at all of any unusual or novel pathogens or unusual clinical presentations, including in Beijing and Liaoning, but only the aforementioned general increase in respiratory illnesses due to many known pathogens. They further mentioned that the increase in respiratory illness has not resulted in patient loads exceeding hospital capacities.
