Superstar footballer Christiano Ronaldo will visit Singapore from Friday to Saturday for what is dubbed to be a #BeSIUPER weekend.

The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner, who made a US$ 200 million (S$ 270 million) move to Saudi Arabia Club Al Nassr in January, will be in town to support Peter Lim, a long-time friend and philanthropist who established a series of youth scholarships.

On Friday the 38-year-old footballer will share more about his #BeSIUPER mindset with over 200 beneficiaries of the NParks Peter Lim Scholarship, which aims at highlighting the protection of the environment and sustainability awareness.

#BeSIUPER which is born from his ‘Siu’ celebration at games, is the footballer’s encouragement for youth to cultivate a positive and winning attitude.  Singaporean businessman Peter Lim donated $ 10 million in 2020, to start the scholarship with the NParks Board to help deserving youth from less privileged backgrounds to pursue their interests and develop their skills in ecology, animal science, landscaping, veterinary and horticulture.  It has since given out 537 study awards to the value of $1.3 million to students from the Institutes of Technical Education (ITE), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, polytechnics and local universities.

On Saturday, Christiano Ronaldo will meet more than 1,000 youngsters to support the Singapore Olympic Foundation Peter Lim Scholarship.

He is expected, aside from speaking to them, to join some young footballers at the Fun Fest event at the Marine Parade Cluster in a game of padel ball which is a racket sport which is a cross between squash and tennis and is played in doubles on an enclosed court that is a little smaller than a tennis court.

Christiano Ronando’s visit has been organised by Mint Media Sports, which owns image rights for International stars such as Ronaldo.

This will not be his first visit here.  He visited Crest Secondary School in Jurong East in 2013, and Yumin Primary School in Tampines in 2019.  In July 2019 Christian Ronaldo met students in support of the Singapore Olympic Foundation Peter Lim Scholarship.
