CIPM Collaboration with the University

-

In a significant stride towards advancing the field of human resource management (HRM), the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka has recently formalized a momentous Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Faculty of Management at the University of Peradeniya. This strategic collaboration is poised to elevate HRM principles, techniques, and practices through joint initiatives undertaken by CIPM and the University’s Department of Human Resources Management within the Faculty of Management. The MOU is envisioned as a cornerstone for fostering academic and practical excellence in people management, a crucial facet of corporate governance.

U.A.C Obeysekere, the Chief Executive Officer of CIPM Sri Lanka, expressed great enthusiasm about this collaborative venture, stating, “We are delighted to enter this MOU with the Faculty of Management of the University of Peradeniya to promote and uplift one of the most important facets of corporate management, people management.” The agreement underscores a commitment to instilling modern HRM best practices in students through comprehensive programs and collaborative research initiatives.

The long-term partnership outlined in the MOU seeks to facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives and scholarship opportunities. CIPM is set to contribute significantly to the learning, research, and professional development of graduates at the University of Peradeniya. One of the noteworthy provisions within the MOU is the commitment by CIPM to offer several full-tuition scholarships to outstanding students pursuing HRM courses at the University.

As part of this collaborative effort, CIPM will award two full-tuition scholarships for the CIPM Advanced Certificate in HRM (ACHRM) to the top-performing students in the HRM course offered by the Department of HRM. Additionally, three full-tuition scholarships will be granted to students achieving the highest GPA at the conclusion of the second year in the BBA Honours in HRM degree program, enabling them to pursue the CIPM Diploma in Professional HRM (DPHRM). Furthermore, a singular full-tuition scholarship will be bestowed upon the student attaining the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the culmination of the final year in the BBA Honours in HRM degree program, facilitating their pursuit of the CIPM Chartered Intermediate in Human Resource Management (CIHRM).

The comprehensive scope of these scholarships reflects CIPM’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering excellence in HRM education. The awards are strategically designed to recognize and encourage outstanding achievements at various stages of academic progression, ultimately contributing to the development of a highly competent and skilled pool of HR professionals.

Beyond scholarships, the MOU envisions joint research programs aimed at advancing the understanding and application of HRM principles in real-world corporate scenarios. This collaborative research initiative is anticipated to yield valuable insights that can inform and enhance HRM practices in both academic and corporate realms.

The collaboration between CIPM Sri Lanka and the University of Peradeniya signifies a mutual commitment to excellence in HRM education and practice. By combining the academic rigor of the University with the practical expertise of CIPM, this partnership is poised to make significant contributions to the evolution of HRM as a critical component of effective corporate management. As both institutions embark on this journey of collaboration, the shared vision is to empower students with the knowledge and skills essential for navigating the complexities of the modern workplace and to elevate the standards of HRM practices in the corporate landscape.
