plant around 30,000 trees in Jallo Forest & Wildlife Park in Lahore as part of its mission themed, “Refresh the world. Make a difference.” Moreover, Coca-Cola is committed to the regions in which it operates and is also attempting to lower its carbon emission in order to protect the environment. Coca-Cola laid the first plastic road in Pakistan last year on Ataturk Avenue in Islamabad to showcase the collection and re-use of enormous PET plastic garbage.
Fahad Ashraf, Vice-President of Coca-Cola Pakistan & Afghanistan, expressed delight over the great initiative. He said, “At Coca-Cola, we aim to act in ways to create a more sustainable and better-shared future that makes a difference in people’s lives, communities, and our planet. Today’s tree plantation activity is part of that broader commitment.”
Coca-Cola employees and the senior leadership of all partnering businesses participated in the plantation drive. Coca-Cola seeks to promote positive change in society by promoting employee participation. Dr. Naeem Rauf, Secretary of the Environmental Protection Department, emphasized the significance of a collaborative approach while addressing environmental concerns.
Dr. Naeem said, “Pakistan is among the top 10 countries most impacted by climate change and its resultant environmental issues. To be able to find sustainable solutions, everyone, from individuals to organizations needs to come together as no one can solely fix this. I appreciate the efforts of private sector companies like Coca-Cola who are giving back to the communities in which they do business.”
Umar Jahangir, director general of the Parks and Horticulture Authority in Lahore, emphasized the significance of the initiative. He said, “Environmental degradation has reached a point where it is threatening the survival of people around the world. A component of our work is to spread awareness among the masses about the need for planting more native trees as we need them for our survival as they, in addition to being a source of oxygen help keep the temperatures down.”
It has been demonstrated that planting native trees is the best initiative as well as the first line of defense against climate change. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) concerns are interwoven into the Coca-Cola Company’s business strategy. They concentrate on areas where they may have a beneficial influence on the communities they serve worldwide.
