Climate committee stops short of refusing licence for North Sea oil exploration!

LONDON (CU)_The Climate Change Committee (CCC), an independent, statutory body established under the Climate Change Act 2008 of the United Kingdom, recently called for the application of “stringent tests” to any new licences that are being granted for a proposed expansion of oil and gas drilling in the North Sea. However, it was a clearance of a major hurdle for the project, as the Committee stopped short of saying the licences could not be issued, pointing out that any final decision must be for ministers.
