Commonwealth countries meet in Nairobi to discuss educational changes.

To discuss major issues and challenges in education, the commonwealth countries education ministers are meeting in Nairobi Kenya on the 27th of April 2023.

On Wednesday the 2-day conference starts under the theme “Rethinking education for innovation, growth and sustainability post covid 19. The meeting of the commonwealth education ministers in Nairobi is the 21st of such meetings and comes ahead of CHOGM in Rwanda later in the year.

This is to address key educational priorities within the commonwealth by high level assembly including education ministers, educators, teachers, senior government officials, civil society development partners and policymakers to a sustainable goal (SDGs) agenda.

To offer hope to increasingly large youth population, a large scale and practical solution to the learning crisis has become the main focus for political leaders.

The pandemic impact on educational sector with considerable uncertainty and disrupt which has resulted in poor learning outcomes and economic inequalities. Challenges face by vulnerable children including those with disabilities and fragile communities has deepened.

Professor George Magoha, at the official opening of the commonwealth conference said, covid 19 pandemic has resulted to a near standstill of the education system across the world with special emphasis on low-income countries.

Building a resilient education system addressing emerging issues and to overcome future crisis is a key part of the system that should be in place, minimizing and protecting learning from disruption.

The discussion will also include the practical terms, the scale and the time frame that is realistic and meaningful. Tackling the crisis that is faced by partnerships and collaborations with the government will be essential to rebuilding post covid 19. From running low-cost private schools to mobilizing and deploying education capital, technical support partners for state and nations wide programming educational partners are playing a significant role complementing government effort to achieve quality education.

Techer guides have been provided to the teachers to display lessons, record attendance for score assessment and pupil comprehension in near real time. This ensures that the teachers are free from administrative burden and solely focused on teaching.
