India (Commonwealth Union)_ Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, has gotten engaged to Saaniya Chandok in a quiet, private ceremony attended by close family and friends. While neither family has officially commented on the occasion, close sources confirmed the news earlier this week. The engagement generated a lot of buzz online, with fans and followers rushing to social media to express their wishes over the cricketer’s major life event. Despite public excitement, the pair has kept the occasion low-key, with no images or words issued as of yet.

According to reports, Saaniya is the granddaughter of well-known Mumbai-based businessman Ravi Ghai. The Ghai family has a long history in India’s hotel and food industries. They are best known for owning the InterContinental Hotel in Mumbai and the ice cream brand Brooklyn Creamery. Saaniya maintains a limited digital presence, as she has a private Instagram account with just over 800 followers. Among those following her are Arjun and his sister Sara Tendulkar.

Professionally, Saaniya founded Mr. Paws Pet Spa & Store LLP, which is a luxury pet care and grooming firm headquartered in Mumbai. Her business efforts in the pet care field have been favorably regarded in specialist circles, and she is believed to be very concerned about animal welfare. In India’s business world, her grandfather, Ravi Ghai, holds a respected position. He graduated from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and returned to India in the late 1960s to join the family business, founded by his father, I.K. Ghai. He later launched the iconic Kwality Ice Cream, a brand many Indians grew up with, famous for its chocobars and cassatas.

Under his leadership, the Graviss Group increased its presence in the hospitality and culinary industries and was key in introducing the Baskin-Robbins brand to South Asia. Mr. Ghai is now the Non-Executive Chairman of Graviss Hospitality Ltd. He also has roles in Kwality Real Estates and Perfect Livestock LLP. Graviss Food Solutions, a main component of the firm, recorded sales of ₹624 crore for FY 2023-24, a 20% increase from the previous year.
As for Arjun, the 25-year-old is slowly forging his way in Indian cricket. Arjun is a left-arm fast bowler who can also bat in the lower order. He currently plays for Goa in domestic cricket. In 17 first-class matches, he has 37 wickets and more than 500 runs. His T20 stats include 27 wickets from 24 games, along with 119 runs. In List A matches (one-day format), he has 25 wickets and 102 runs to his name from 18 appearances. Arjun also plays for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his debut in 2023, taking three wickets in four games that season. In 2024, he played in just one match and did not take a wicket. His maiden IPL wicket, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, came against SunRisers Hyderabad. Arjun was retained by the franchise for ₹30 lakh during the 2024 season.
According to financial reports, Arjun’s net worth is estimated to be around ₹22 crore. Since joining the IPL in 2021, he has earned almost ₹1.4 crore, accounting for a significant chunk of his earnings. Sachin Tendulkar owns a 6,000-square-foot home in Mumbai. He bought it in 2007 for ₹39 crore. Now, Arjun lives there with his parents. The property, estimated at roughly ₹100 crore, has a contemporary design, many stories, two basements, and a large garden. While the families have opted to keep the engagement quiet for the time being, fans and members of the cricketing community have shown their support.
