The celebration marked four decades of excellence in crafting delicious sweets and confectionery delights for millions of Sri Lankans. The event was attended by Sunshine Holdings Deputy Chairman Vish Govindasamy, Sunshine Consumer Lanka CEO Anuruddha Aluvihare, senior management of Sunshine Holdings and SCL, Daintee employees, and other distinguished guests.

Founded in 1984 through a collaboration with UK confectionary company Barker and Dobson, Daintee quickly established itself as a market leader in Sri Lanka’s confectionery industry. The company’s product line includes a wide variety of treats such as toffees, sweets, jellies, chocolates, cocoa-based confectionery, bubblegum, desserts, biscuits, and snacks. Daintee currently holds a 40% market share in toffees and sweets.

In 2020, Sunshine Holdings acquired Daintee to expand its presence in Sri Lanka’s growing FMCG segment, with an aim to extend its product portfolio beyond tea and nurture local brands. Daintee has since become a key part of SCL’s diverse range of businesses, which markets and distributes some of Sri Lanka’s most beloved tea brands, including Watawala, Zesta, and Ran Kahata.

During the celebration, Daintee announced that it has achieved ISO 22000:2018 certification for its food safety management system at its Anura Mawatha manufacturing facility in Ratmalana.
