Delhi allows auditoriums, assembly halls in schools, colleges to function with 50 per cent capacity

There have been many functions, weddings and other gatherings that have been postponed due to the pandemic. Countries went to the extremes of cancelling all gatherings where the headcount was more than 10 or 15 pax at a time and that to with social distancing. As we all know Indian weddings are massive, colorful and can go on for days. It’s a pure celebration of loves and the party never stops. These were also the reason most hotels and function halls made their money and with the pandemic they were at a loss.

But the Delhi government made a new announcement regarding the above and that was that auditoriums and assembly halls in Delhi schools to function for training and meeting purposes with 50 per cent capacity. Now this would have been ok if for the fact that whilst people could still have functions and party yet schools were still not being open in any capacity for the children to get an education. Physical teaching and learning will continue to be remain suspended. This decision was made by the Deli Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). They said that said that the auditoriums and assembly halls in schools and educational institutions can be used for training and meeting purposes with a 50 per cent seating capacity limit.

 All schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will remain closed and online or distance learning will be permitted, said the order. These were banned with the imposition of lockdown in Delhi on April 19 due to surging COVID infections. Public transport, including Delhi Metro, will continue to operate with 50 per cent seating capacity. DTC and cluster buses will also run with 50 per cent seating capacity, the order stated. Activities that are prohibited and restricted will remain so till 5 am on July 26, said the order.
