The United Arab Emirates is about to face an unpredictable weather period that will challenge their physical limits, rather than merely providing reasonable expectations of what will happen. Currently there is a weak low-pressure system at the surface affecting the entire country, which will result in conditions that are expected to create dusty conditions, increased wind speeds and rougher seas. In general, the day will start off fair but will rapidly become worse due to increased wind speeds creating dust, and there will be a corresponding reduction in horizontal visibility in some locations as a result. Similarly, the Arabian Gulf is expected to be rough (especially in its western portions), while the Oman Sea will be slight for the foreseeable future.
The National Weather Service expects temperatures to become exceptionally warm inland, with them likely to reach 43 to 47 degrees Celsius. The coast and islands will see 36 to 41 degrees Celsius, while mountains will see 32 to 37 degrees Celsius. However, the true story of this weather pattern is the movement of air: on Friday, there will be southwesterly to northwesterly winds reaching 50 km/h, which will create blowing dust and reduce visibility in many places. Dust will continue to move with the southwesterly winds from Wednesday through Saturday, and temperatures will go down slightly at the coast; they are expected to rise again at the coast on Sunday.
There is, however, a distinctly desert-like turn to the drama of the day. For all the rawness and instability of the afternoons, there will be moisture-laden air and potential fog or mist overnight and early in the morning along some coastal areas beginning on Saturday. Essentially, the weather conditions in terms of dryness and dustiness will be an entirely unique experience in the daytime versus the evenings. The water will also be experiencing a wide range of conditions with varied levels of waves, from moderate to rough, in the Arabian Gulf, making it an opportunity for both drivers and seafarers to remain alert and attentive while they travel.
Over the next few days, the oppressive heat combined with unsettling weather conditions creates the well-founded expectation that you will find yourself on edge and anxious as this continues; the trend for UAE summer weather is as consistent as your alarm clock each morning.
