India (Commonwealth Union)_ Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a historical three-day state visit to the United States, where he had high-level discussions with renowned figures such as Tesla CEO and Twitter owner, Elon Musk. Following their meeting, Musk expressed his admiration for Modi, describing the meeting as a fantastic encounter. He recalled Modi’s prior visit to Tesla’s factory a few years ago, establishing a connection that had developed over time. Musk’s enthusiasm for India was evident as he expressed his belief in its immense potential, surpassing that of any other large country in the world.
Musk said, “I’m a fan of Modi. It was a fantastic meeting with the Prime Minister and I like him quite a lot. He visited our factory a few years ago. So, we have known each other for a while. I am incredibly excited about the future of India. I think India has more promise than any large country in the world.” In addition, this was not Modi and Musk’s first encounter, as they had previously met each other in 2015 when PM Modi visited the Tesla Motors factory in California. When asked about the prospect of Tesla entering the Indian market, Musk exuded confidence, assuring that the company would make its way to India as soon as possible.
Further, Musk commended Modi’s genuine concern for India, emphasizing the Prime Minister’s efforts to encourage substantial investment within the country. He also acknowledged Modi’s desire to facilitate a supportive and open environment for companies, while ensuring that India reaps the benefits. Musk’s affirmative response to whether Tesla was interested in the Indian market further solidified the company’s intention to explore opportunities in India.
Further, PM Modi took to social media to share his appreciation for the meeting with Musk, tweeting, “Great meeting you today @elonmusk! We had multifaceted conversations on issues ranging from energy to spirituality.” In response, Musk conveyed his honor at the chance to meet again. He tweeted, “It was an honor to meet again.” The Prime Minister commended Musk’s endeavors in making technology accessible and affordable across various sectors. Modi also invited Musk to investigate investment opportunities in India’s electric mobility and commercial space industries.
Commencing his journey on Tuesday morning, the Prime Minister’s visit to the US carried significant prestige, an honor reserved for the closest of allies by Washington, D.C. The itinerary included notable events such as addressing a joint session of the US Congress, engaging in discussions with business leaders and the Indian diaspora, as well as attending a state dinner at the White House with US President Joe Biden. Further, the trip’s focal points revolved around bolstering trade and defense ties, underscoring the significance of this momentous visit.
