England to make another public stand against discrimination.

Discrimination is a word one will hear very frequently these days whether it be at a shopping mall, Movie Theater, the dentist’s office or even a cricket pitch! No one can actually say that they are not aware of what discrimination is as one is either a victim of the discrimination or they have seen someone being discriminated against.

This being said it is very easy to discriminate someone based on their color of skin, place of birth or even gender identity. But the England cricket team was not standing for any kind of discrimination even if it meant suspending one of their own.

Ollie Robinson who debuted his cricketing career with the English team was suspended pending investigation after there were a long history of tweets from him that were racist as well as sexist. This spiraled out of control as the media exposed Robinson for being racist and this did damage to the image of the English team.

Joe Root the captain of the team quoted “It’s been an uncomfortable week for everyone. But we have committed to making a positive change in our sport. That doesn’t change just because of what’s happened,” he said on the eve of the match. It doesn’t change anything in terms of how we want to do things moving forward. We will continue to keep wearing those shirts, we will continue to keep finding ways to educate ourselves as players and as a group and we will continue to find ways of bettering our sport. We are still very much committed to that, even in light of what’s happened. That’s not going to sway us. If we can do that and keep trying to spread that message, a lot of good can come off the back of some bad stuff that has happened in the last week. It’s been an uncomfortable week for everyone. But we have committed to making a positive change in our sport. That doesn’t change just because of what’s happened.”

Apart from this the England team will make another public apology hoping that this would help to amend the damage that Ollie Robinson’s Tweets have caused to some extent.
