Extending the supply of wing components…

a significant number of its employees in North Wales. However, this spring, the company secured planning to expand its operations at the Llay site thereby creating over a 100 new jobs. Now, Magellan has more good news for its sites in North Wales, as the company announced an extension of a contract between Magellan Aerospace UK and Airbus. The agreement is aimed at expanding the supply of aluminium and titanium structural wing components from Magellan UK’s facilities located in Europe and India.

“This scope of work with Airbus demonstrates our commitment to align with our customer’s strategy through operational efficiency and continuous improvement,” Magellan President and CEO Phillip C. Underwood said. “The long-term nature of the contract will allow Magellan to make infrastructure adjustments in our European and Indian facilities to ensure that we are able to offer our customer a competitive and reliable source during the challenging years to come as the commercial aircraft sector recovers.”

The components supplied will be used for the development of the A330 and A320 aircrafts whose wings are assembled at Airbus’s site in Broughton, Flintshire. Neither Airbus, nor Magellan provided further details on the value or length of the contract extension.
