India (Commonwealth) _ Two kids who have lost their homes are going to inspire the country, which is a positive development despite the chaos brought on by the continuous violence in Manipur, which has left thousands of people homeless and displaced in relief camps.

The residents of Moreh Ward No. 5 and Ekou Sadu Koireng, respectively, Lourembam Anjali Devi and Chanambam Langlen Chanu, have been selected to represent Manipur in the forthcoming 3rd Sub Junior Boys and Girls National Boxing Championship 2024.

Since they exhibit fortitude and a will to overcome hardship, their selection offers hope to others who are struggling with the repercussions of the destruction. The Sarita Regional Boxing Academy, founded by prominent boxers Laishram Sarita and her husband Thoiba, has been providing Anjali Devi and Langlen Chanu with intense residential boxing instruction.


Sarita and Thoiba have been providing free residential boxing instruction to kids staying in relief camps all throughout the state, in an incredible show of kindness and support. Their program not only teaches the young athletes useful sports skills but also fosters resilience and a sense of purpose, giving them hope for a better future despite the obstacles they face every day.

The community finds great resonance in the choice of Anjali Devi and Langlen Chanu to represent Manipur in the national championship, which stands as a monument to the people’s unwavering spirit in the face of of hardship. In addition to showcasing their skill and commitment, their involvement serves as a symbol of hope and tenacity for many others facing adversity in the wake of the violence that has afflicted Manipur for more than nine months.

The tournament, which is being held in cooperation with the U.P. Boxing Association, is slated to take place at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida from March 18–25, 2024. The journey of these young athletes serves as a reminder of the transformational power of sport and the resolute human spirit in overcoming adversity and paving the way for a brighter tomorrow, as the country comes together to support them.

Sarita and Thoiba conveyed their immense joy at having chosen Anjali and Langlen to compete in the aforementioned event. The pair sent their best wishes for further success in their endeavors. It should be noted that Sarita Regional Boxing Academy, which was founded in 2012 in Mayang, Imphal, by boxing icon Laishram Sarita and her husband Thoiba, is providing humanitarian aid to the area during this crisis.

An institute team visits several aid camps to identify impacted youngsters who have an interest in boxing. The academy began the admirable practice of offering free boxing instruction during the early stages of the crisis, and it continues to this day.

The institute’s administrator, Chongtham Thoiba, stated that after considering the pain that kids would experience, they decided to take action. The organization was ecstatic to have the chance to use athletics to alleviate some of this terrible situation.

A group from this institution has been going to relief camps spread out over the country in order to identify kids who are interested in boxing. Thirteen youngsters of varying ages have shown up to use the facilities as a result of their efforts. Most of them are from the worst-hit areas, such as Moreh, Ikou, Wangoo, Motbung, etc.; they range in age from 10 to 15. They are all residing in the academy’s boarding house while pursuing free boxing instruction.

Boxers born between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011, or between the ages of 13 and 14, depending on their birth year, are eligible. Submissions must be received in the manner provided, with entries by name and entry by number, officially signed by the president or secretary of the associated unit of the Boxing Federation of India.

The original birth certificate and Aadhar card must be presented in photocopy at the time of the medical examination and initial weigh-in. Before registering, boxers are required to conform with NCAFS regulations and forms regarding age verification test reports.  From March 19 to March 25, 2024, boxers who are selected to compete will have daily weigh-ins and medical examinations at the site from 0700 to 0800 hours.
