Mumbai, India (CU)_ Bollywood has contributed by creating stories and films that focus on teacher-student relationships from school days. These films are emotional and take us back to school days and make us laugh and feel nostalgic times. We stumbled upon these wonderful films while going through our Bollywood albums, which made these on-screen professors as our role models.
Aamir Khan : Taare Zameen Par
The 2008 film Taare Zameen Par was a box office hit and was produced, directed and acted by actor Aamir Khan. One of our most favorite teachers is Aamir Khan, who plays the lead role Ram Shankar Nikumbh. The film is full of emotions, and conveys the essential message that every child is special and also normalizes a disease like dyslexia. Ram Sir not only helps the kid overcome his impairment by using unusual teaching techniques, but he also helps his parents alter their thoughts about him.
Rani Mukerji : Hichki
The 2018 film Hichki was directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, which is an adaptation of Brad Cohen’s book, Front of the Class, that follows the story of Naina Mathur. Naina, played by Rani Mukerji, is a teacher with Tourette Syndrome who transforms her disability into her greatest strength by educating a group of poor students from a reputed school. The film was well-received by both spectators and critics.
Rajkummar Rao : ‘Chhalaang’
The 2020 sports comedy film Chhalaang was directed by Hansal Mehta and features Rajkummar Rao in the lead role. We were able to journey back in time and remember our school days with Rajkummar Rao’s depiction as Montu, a PT instructor keen to prepare his students for the inter-house tournament. Watching the children perform, train, and practice kindled the school days memories of the audience. The film allows us to revisit memories from our favorite PT subject in school.
Shahid Kapoor : Paathshala
The 2010 drama film Paathshala was directed by Milind Ukey and features Shahid Kapoor in the lead role. This film sent a powerful message about India’s educational system and its flaws. Shahid plays Rahul Udyavar, a new English teacher at school who makes a quick bond with both pupils and instructors. When the school administration becomes overly concerned with profit rather than the children’s well-being, he raise voice against the management along with the students.
Hrithik Roshan : Super 30
Super 30 was directed by Vikas Bahl, which is a 2019 biographical drama following the story of a maths teacher played by Hrithik Roshan. The plot follows Anand Kumar, an Indian mathematician, who resigns his job as a teacher at a prestigious coaching center to educate poor youngsters. Anand fights against all obstacles to bring out the best in his students by giving all the necessary assistance and encouragement in order for them to obtain admission to the coveted IITs.
