First post-blockade food aid ship leaves Ukraine for Africa

According to Refinitiv Eikon data released on Tuesday, the ship Brave Commander has departed the Ukrainian port of Pivdennyi with the first shipment of humanitarian food aid from Ukraine intended for Africa since Russia’s incursion.

Due to the shutdown of its Black Sea ports, Ukraine’s grain exports have decreased significantly since the war began, raising food prices worldwide and raising concerns about a scarcity in Africa and the Middle East.
