Fitness industry expected to grow with increasing trends in home fitness options

Sydney, Australia (CU) _ Fitness specialists predict that the year 2022 will be a year of continuous development in the sector due to technological advancements and improvements. Fitness no longer resembles what it did even a decade ago. Exercise science and technology have advanced a lot, and the pandemic has increased the available home fitness choices. Despite the pandemic-induced halt in the fitness industry in 2020, many continued their exercise regimen.

Prior to the pandemic, exercising at home was not a good idea. However, at present, even as club memberships have increased, the concept of working out at home has been accepted as a fitness supplement. Users are also shifting to virtual classrooms that provide social interaction and real-time training. Gyms are expanding their programming to include virtual lessons. Jordan Morman, fitness manager at Proximal 50, said “You can be doing exactly what they are doing in the studio here at home. So that’s been something that’s been becoming pretty popular, especially during the pandemic, but that’s something we have been getting into as well”.

According to the instructors, both in-person training and home exercises are gaining attention now. Morman added, “It’s more about finding what works for you. If you can do everything you want to do at home, great. If you like coming to the gym, you know for a lot of people that’s a social thing as well, they like the community feel of being in the gym, that’s also great. I think they’re both going to be here”.

The desire for at-home workouts is not the only way individuals are enjoying their health these days. Individuals may now customize their workouts and diets to their body types due to advancements in fitness technology. Callie Stein, a registered nurse at Proximal 50, said, “You know everyone’s bodies are different. Genetics play a big part in that”. A DEXA scanner is one piece of technology that is employed in the fitness industry. The proximal 50′s DEXA scanner is used to determine the body composition. It enables users to move away from the scale and more precisely track their health and fitness progress.

Stein said, “DEXA scan is a great way to start because we can repeat it in six months or 12 months. Maybe you don’t have any changes on the scale, but you have decreased your body fat percentage, or your visceral fat, or you have not only maintained muscle but even gained a little bit of muscle. And gaining even a little bit of muscle can help with our metabolism, in turn burning more fat. So, it is a great tool we like to use because sometimes people may not see changes on the scale, but they will notice how their clothes are fitting, and we can then give them concrete numbers in a follow-up”. Fitness gurus predict that in the future, more technology, shorter exercises, and hybrid gym experiences will likely survive after the pandemic.
