Formula E Season 9 mobile charger unveiled by ABBIndia

-

India (Commonwealth Union) _ For Season 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, when the business assumes its new role as the series’ official charging supplier, ABB has disclosed the charging technology it will deploy. The new Gen3 vehicles need to be charged before races and in between sessions, and ABB has created a small, dependable, and secure solution in collaboration with experts from Formula E and the sports governing body, the FIA.

The robust, unique, and ergonomic design of the ABB Formula E Race Charger makes for simple international transportation and installation. The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is the largest global e-mobility stage. According to Frank Mühlon, CEO of ABB E-mobility, “We’re delighted to bring our innovative charging solutions to the series, continuing our drive to use it as a testbed for new, more sustainable technologies.”

Before the race, two vehicles can be charged with 80kW of power each at a rate of 80kW per charger, up to a maximum power output of 160kW. Due to the elimination of the need for one unit per car, race teams are now able to “double-charge” with just one unit, greatly reducing the footprint of the charger and lowering transportation emissions.

The ABB Formula E Race Charger uses the most up-to-date charging technology and capitalizes on the company’s dominant position in the industry. To fit the demanding motorsport environment, its design adapts technology that has already been successful in road car charging applications. Wherever the chargers are used, and with a variety of power sources, it offers dependability and consistency of performance.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is built on technological advancement and sustainable innovation, said Jamie Reigle, CEO of Formula E. “We are pleased that ABB will provide sophisticated charging systems for our racing teams in Gen3 as part of our cooperation with ABB, which is founded on a common goal to improve electric mobility.”
