From Art Beat to Heart Beat: Canada Day long weekend

-

Canada (Commonwealth)_These are all for the Canada Day celebration. Art to your heart is a pleasing way to make it beat with a passion for a long weekend. For the Canada Day long weekend, five imaginative, playful, and skilled artists are planning a one-of-a-kind show of remarkable art. Charly Mithrush, Lore Schmidts, and Donna Stewart will be on display at the Seaside Centre in Sechelt from June 30 to July 2, with guest artists Ginny Vail and Kate von Riesen. The event will make your heart beat fast with artistic paintings and other aesthetic elements to please your eyes and ear.

Charly Mithrush’s encaustic work uses found objects and depict water, sea, and nests. Lore Schmidts reflects and expresses his journey through a range of mediums, techniques, and experiences. Donna Stewart’s use of concrete for sculptures and wall art is one-of-a-kind, elevating a useful product to a whole new level.

Not only these amazing artists but also Ginny Vail is a mixed media and abstract painter who mostly works in acrylics and paper collages. Vail’s most recent endeavor is decoupage under glass; her 3D vintage artwork has become popular (and provocative) house decor. Kate von Riesen combines the earthy mediums of metal and kiln-formed glass in her work. “We are beautiful dance partners,” von Riesen said.

The artists will appear at an event hosted by local realtor Gina Stockwell on June 30 (5 to 9 p.m.). The Sunshine Coast Community Services Society’s Building Together initiative will get a part of the proceeds from the day’s sales. All five artists will be present for the entire three days of the show.

Not only art, but also members of the Sunshine Coast Community Orchestra Association will perform a program featuring soloists, duets, and small ensembles of brass, woodwind, string, and keyboard performers on Sunday, June 18 which would make the weekend far too amazing for all the passionate souls. A variety of musical styles, including Baroque, Romantic, musical theater, and jazz, will be featured with a quick beat to your heart. The concert begins at 2:30 p.m. at St. Hilda’s Anglican Church in Sechelt. Donations are accepted for admission and you are all welcome for that.
