The meeting also featured a light-hearted moment when Diljit sang a devotional song for the prime minister. PM Modi, visibly enjoying the performance, playfully tapped along to the rhythm on the adjacent table as though playing a dholak. This musical exchange showcased the mutual respect and friendship between the two personalities. As a gesture of appreciation, Diljit presented PM Modi with a poster from his “Dil-Luminati” tour, which has become one of the most talked-about events in the global music scene. The tour, which began in India, has garnered attention worldwide, further cementing Diljit’s place as an influential figure in the entertainment industry.
During the meeting, Diljit also spoke candidly about his experiences with censorship at concerts. Recently, some state governments instructed him to avoid performing songs with references to alcohol and drugs. Although Diljit complied by altering his lyrics, he expressed his discontent with what he called unnecessary policing of his art. He pointed out that similar references appear in Bollywood songs, yet he felt unjustly targeted. These issues had also arisen during his performances in Hyderabad and Chandigarh. This meaningful encounter between Diljit Dosanjh and PM Modi highlighted both their shared values and the power of art and culture to bring people together.
