Adorned in a traditional white shirt and a ‘veshti’ (dhoti) and ‘angavastram’ (shawl), PM Modi stood majestic on top of a festively decorated car, waving enthusiastically at the masses lining the 2 km route from Panagal Park to Teynampet. The 45-minute journey was marked by PM Modi’s infectious energy and magnetic charisma, symbolized by his brandishing of a miniature cutout of the Lotus, the BJP’s symbol, to the cheering crowds.

Welcoming the PM enthusiastically, supporters fervently chanted slogans of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Modi, Modi,” brandishing placards adorned with endorsements for the BJP and its leadership. Flower petals rained down upon PM Modi as tokens of affection from his ardent followers, amplifying the jubilant ambiance of the occasion. Additionally, the roadshow featured cultural performances, including a mesmerizing nadaswaram recital, adding further vibrancy to the spectacle.

Following the eventful roadshow, PM Modi spent the night in Chennai before embarking on his itinerary, which includes addressing election rallies in Vellore and Mettupalayam on Wednesday. These rallies aim to bolster support for NDA candidates, including K Annamalai, Union minister L Murugan, and Soumya Anbumani of the ally PMK.

The upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu will witness keenly contested battles for 39 Lok Sabha seats, alongside one seat in Puducherry. Despite the BJP’s absence in the outgoing House, the party remains hopeful about its electoral prospects in the southern state. Leading a non-DMK, non-AIADMK alliance, the BJP allies with the Pattali Makkal Katchi and Tamil Maanila Congress-Moopanar, spearheaded by former union minister GK Vasan.
