The most popular Canadian coffee brand, Tim Hortons, is planning to establish its first location in Singapore by the end of the year, and Singapore coffee lovers can now taste a cup of Tim Hortons’ coffee in their homeland.

This comes on the heels of Japanese trading giant Marubeni Corporation’s announcement of a deal with Restaurant Brands International, the parent company of Tim Hortons, to introduce the brand to Singapore via its subsidiary, Marubeni Growth Capital Asia. According to sources, there are plans to open hundreds of stores in Singapore during the next fiscal year, which will begin in April, and further expand to Malaysia and Indonesia during the following decade.

According to the spokesperson for Marubeni Corporation, the business plans to open its first location in Singapore before the end of the year. Tim Hortons, popularly referred to as Canada’s favorite coffee shop, also sells a range of food items, but is most known for its coffee and doughnuts. Singapore is the brand’s third expansion into the South-east Asian market. At present, it has over 5,600 shops in 14 countries. The brand established its first location in the Philippines in 2017. It presently runs 46 sites successfully around the nation.

The company established its first location in Thailand in 2020, and subsequently expanded its brand with 12 locations across the country. The coffee brand is also planning to launch locations in Malaysia during the next fiscal year, with menus tailored to suit local preferences. It also plans to launch its first store in Indonesia in the following fiscal year. When queried if Tim Hortons will be halal-certified, a spokesperson for Marubeni Corporation stated that the creation of local menus is still ongoing and that further information will be provided later in the year.
