Ontario, Canada (CU)_ Google is developing a new app which will enable users to save their medical records. The software will compile data from the users’ medical records from various healthcare providers, allowing them to view all of their health information in one place. According to 91Mobiles, the new Google Health app is still under development. According to the leaked screenshots, which were given by the well-known tipster Ishan Agarwal, the app will let users combine all of their medical records from various healthcare providers.

According to the instructions in one of the screenshots of the app, it says, “See a unified view of your health, pulling together info from your doctor’s visit, labs, and more. Get started by linking your online accounts from places where you’ve received your healthcare”. Users will be able to share their data with family and friends using the new Google Health app. To collect and combine data from various healthcare providers, these providers would be expected to use a common application programming interface (API), which will most likely be developed by Google.

For the time being, it is unsure whether Google will release the app in public or if it is simply for internal testing. According to Agarwal, the official launch date is still not revealed. According to a media report in the beginning of the year, Google has been working on this new platform to assist people save their medical records and that Google has employed people from Northern California, Atlanta, and Chicago for this project.

If the app is released, the Google Health app will more effectively challenge Apple’s Healthcare platform, which also collects data from various healthcare providers in a similar way. The Apple Health app stores all the information, as well as your activity and workout statistics. All of this data adds up to a comprehensive picture of your health, making it a beneficial app compared to other services that simply track activities.
