With everything going on in the world right now it is only acceptable that there is not a lot of going out and about these days. Some countries are still facing lockdowns and travel restrictions where as some countries people are still allowed to travel within the country or city limits.
Now the problem is in countries like Singapore where the people depend on public transport it become a little difficult when cab companies hike up the rates. Grab is one of the cab companies that is used by Singapore as they do not have Uber. Grab has increased its base fare by 75 American cants which is 1 Singaporean dollar. Now this increase is since 2017 and it has been the first increase grab has made since the pandemic.
There is always a reason for this and that is the fact that employees of grab which is basically the drivers as well as other partners have complained stating that it is now an expense for them to use grab as opposed to it being s way of an income. This is because the living cost has gone up but Grab as a company has not made provisions for this.
The increase in the base fare will apply to all of the Grab transport services in Singapore but not the Standard Taxi, GrabHitch and GrabCoach. The app will also supply the consumers and users of Grab with a voucher of 1 Singaporean Dollar for peak hour rides from the 10th of June to the 14th of June.
The company has done this as well as introduce other incentives to the drivers such as those who complete food, grocery or parcel deliveries in highly demanded areas will be given a higher percentage as well as fixed value rebates based on the total number of transports and delivery jobs they finish.
