Greek Gov’t seeks to increase quarantine hotels on islands

As travelling become a possibility with the vaccinations and PCR test countries that are tourism hotspots are making sure that there are enough hotels in case there is a need for people to quarantine. The Greek government was one of these governments as they are looking to up the number of quarantine hotels on the islands and to establish “Covid-cabins” on ferries to allow return of travelers tested positive.

The shortages of beds and rooms in such hotels became noticeable in the islands of Mykonos, Paros, and Alonissos. On the first two islands, quarantine hotels were full. On Alonissos, there is no quarantine hotel. The Greek authorities planned that tested positive patients would be transferred to Skiathos. However, they had anticipated that without the Shipping Ministry and National Health Organization EODY, they would not allow positive Covid-19 people on their ships or boats.
