(Commonwealth) _ The Charleston Residence, a staff facility located at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, was evacuated today along with over 150 workers due to a fire that broke out inside the structure around midday. The incident has caused thick, black smoke, which travelers on the Trans-Canada Highway might observe.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported one individual to the hospital, but there is currently no information available regarding their condition. It is important to note that during the summer season, the ski resort is known for its popular gondola rides and a variety of restaurants, which may be affected by the ongoing situation. Authorities are working to control the fire and ensure the safety of both staff and visitors.

In response to the fire incident at the Charleston Residence in Lake Louise Ski Resort, officials have announced that the Summer Gondola will be temporarily shut down for the next two days. Additionally, transport services and parking areas may be affected during this period. According to reports, approximately 170 individuals have been relocated and are currently being transferred to alternative accommodations.

Unfortunately, due to the building’s composition primarily consisting of wood logs, it is likely that the staff facility has been lost. Authorities and emergency personnel are continuing their efforts to control the fire and mitigate any further damage to the resort premises. The safety and well-being of all staff and visitors remain a top priority.

As the corporation considers the long-term position, Monday night saw the transportation of the staff to their temporary residences. To assist individuals impacted by the fire, a clothing drive was organized on Monday at the Lake Louise Inn. On Tuesday, more clothing will be gathered there.  The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.
