India eyes to clinch their maiden!

India (Common Wealth) _ The Indian junior women’s hockey team is motivated to win their first international championship at the Women’s Junior Asia Cup in 2023 in Kakamigahara, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.

The upcoming FIH Junior Women’s World Cup 2023 will be qualified for through the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2023, which will take place from June 2–11, 2023.

The FIH Junior Women’s World Cup 2023 will be held in Santiago, Chile from November 29–December 10, 2023, and the top three teams in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 will automatically qualify for that tournament.

Making theirs effort more accessible, the Indian Women’s Junior Team defeated Pakistan 2-1 to get its maiden win. The hosts Japan, China, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Hong Kong China will make up Pool B of the competition, while the Indian team, led by Preeti and Deepika as vice captains, has been placed in Pool A along with those nations.

In the seven tournament iterations thus far, the Indian team has taken home a silver and four bronze medals. They will pursue their first gold medal this time around.

Preeti, the team’s captain, commented on the team’s preparation for the competition: “We have worked hard over the past several months for this event and now we are all set to apply all that we have worked on during training sessions. Additionally, we trained on the same site as the senior India team, which helped us step up our game and build our confidence.

The team is eager to compete against the greatest young teams in Asia, according to India’s vice-captain Deepika, and they want to put their best foot forward.

The Junior Asia Cup is a significant chance for us to demonstrate our abilities and prove our mettle. We are eager to compete with some of the best Asian teams. We have consistently participated in the competition over the years and have garnered numerous medals, but this time we are determined to take home the Gold Medal, which would be the first in the competition’s history for us. To qualify for the Junior World Cup, though, we must finish in the top three of the competition, Deepika added.
