As part of NITI Aayog’s vision document for 2047, Subrahmanyam outlined the goal of becoming a global education provider by enhancing quality, brand value, and global rankings. He stressed the crucial role of innovation in higher education and the necessity to overhaul the educational system to ensure that students are well-prepared for the industry. He stated, “NITI Aayog is preparing a vision document for 2047, and education has a separate role in it. One of the important points in this is that by 2047, we aim to target half a million foreign students in India. We should become the global provider of education by improving our quality, brand value, and rankings, which are globally recognized”.

Highlighting the pivotal role of students in India’s future, Subrahmanyam emphasized that they would play a significant role during India’s journey in the Amrit Kaal. He noted that universities have a substantial 25-year window to leverage the potential of India’s demographic dividend in shaping the right thought processes among students. The inaugural session also witnessed the release of the FICCI-EY knowledge report titled ‘Transformation of Indian Higher Education: Strategies to leapfrog.’ The report contributes insights and strategies to navigate the transformation of higher education in India.
