Indian American becomes the first South Asian Judge in California Court

Mittal has represented the South Asian community being a member of the South Asian Association since 2012, and was supported by the association. Since 2011, he has worked for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. From 2014 to 2018, he was the Judicial Evaluations co-chair of SABA-SC, and from 2012 to 2014, he was the treasurer of SABA-PIF. He presently serves at the Diversity Committee of the Orange County Bar Association.

According to the media, he has also lectured at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, motivating and guiding law students to seek professions in the public interest. Marize Alphonso and Rohit D Nath, co-Presidents of SABA-SC, expressed delight over the appointment of Mittal. They said, “We are thrilled about Judge Mittal’s appointment to the Orange County bench, an appointment that reflects the significant South Asian population in the region.”
