Indian-origin cricketers dominate US T20 squad

-

India (Commonwealth) _ Earlier this month, the United States of America revealed their 15-person team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The majority of the lineup features American athletes of Indian descent, creating quite a stir. Even the captain of the squad, Monank Patel, who will lead the team once more this season along with Vice-captain Aaron Jones, has origins in Gujarat.

Monank Patel, a native of Gujarat, will captain the 15-man US team at the 2024 ICC Men’s World Cup in June. Saurabh Netravalkar, a left-arm pacer from Mumbai who also works for the US IT corporation Oracle, is a multi-talented individual and will be an important member of the squad in the next matches.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin in June, and the first match will match the USA versus Canada in Texas. This marks the beginning of the 2024 cricket action. It will be the first ICC World Cup competition with matches starting in the US. The games are slated to be co-hosted by the United States and the West Indies, and they will conclude on June 29. Warm-up matches in the USA and Trinidad and Tobago will take place from May 27 to June 1 before to the major games in June.

The following is the whole USA team for the T20 World Cup: Aaron Jones (vocacle), Andries Gous, Corey Anderson, Ali Khan, Harmeet Singh, Jessy Singh, Milind Kumar, Nisarg Patel, Captain Monank Patel, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, Steven Taylor, Noshtush Kenjige, Saurabh Netravalkar, Nitish Kumar, and Shayan Jahangir. (Players on reserve: Yasir Mohammad, Gajanand Singh, and Juanoy Drysdale)

The US Cricket team’s 31-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is Monank Dilipbhai Patel. The current US captain was born in the Indian state of Gujarat on May 1, 1993. He has represented Gujarat at the Under-16 and Under-19 levels in the past.

He stated to PTI in 2022 that cricket was his “full-time career.” One of the team’s many players with origins in the Indian diaspora, Patel finally joined the large Gujarati community in the US in 2016 after relocating permanently to New Jersey. Years prior, in 2010, he was granted a green card.

When Patel first made his debut in 2018, he presented an unpleasant image of training in the United States. The athlete, who was born in India, reiterated that he trained by himself at his academy, implying that there would be severe challenges in hiring a personal coach. He eventually sought the help of his father, an ex-cricketer, and the national team coach after videotaping these practise sessions in order to assess his game.

 Harmeet Singh

The Slow Left arm Orthodox is the traditional delivery method used by the 31-year-old bowling all-arounder. He was born in Mumbai on September 7, 1992, and he can also be seen using his left hand to handle the bat.

He made major contributions to the Indian national team (2012 U-19 World Cup), the Rajasthan Royals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013, and Tripura (state cricket) before making his Minor League Baseball debut in the United States in 2021 with the Seattle Thunderbolts.

Jessy Singh

As the heartwarming celebration’s life force, Jasdeep “Jessy” Singh frequently lights up the field for the United States. The 31-year-old bowler, who was born in the United States on February 10, 1993, strikes out in the medium style with his right arm. His family was originally from Punjab and returned to the Indian state when Jessy was three years old.

Milind Kumar

The 33-year-old all-rounder, who was born in Delhi, alternates between right-hand and right-arm offbreak strokes. Born on February 15, 1991, Kumar debuted in the Minor Cricket League in 2021 with The Philadelphians, his first team in the US.

He formerly played for the Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) of the Indian Premier League and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru teams. He created waves in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, winning the top scorer title.

Nisarg Ketankumar Patel

Patel, an All-rounder who bats left-arm style, has the ability to spin the ball exceptionally well, something that most players are not able to achieve. Sometimes, Nisarg Ketankumar Patel, with the bat in his right hand, abandons the sluggish left-arm orthodox.

The 36-year-old was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on April 20, 1988. Following a noteworthy stint on the US U-19 squad, he played seven years as a semi-pro in England. Wearing the Seattle Orcas uniform, he makes a significant effect on Major League Cricket matches

Kenjige Noshtush

Nosthusha Pradeep Kenjige, sometimes referred to as Nosh or Nosthush, was born in Atlanta on March 2, 1991. The bowler, 33, successfully eschews his trademark slow left-arm orthodoxy.
