New Delhi, India (CU)_ Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Electronics and Information and Technology Minister of India, emphasized the need for Bangladesh and India to further enhance their IT collaboration in order to adapt to the current technology-driven world.
At a meeting with Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Bangladesh’s State Minister for ICT, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “Both the neighboring countries can further bolster cooperation and collaboration in reaping mutual gains of emerging technologies and digital economy”. Palak is currently at New Delhi on an official visit for the 7th round of the Raisina Dialogue, a multinational flagship meeting on geopolitics and geoeconomics that began yesterday. He will participate in the event tomorrow as a panelist.
During the discussion, Indian Information Technology Minister Vaishnaw hailed Bangladesh’s exceptional achievements in the ICT industry under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s energetic leadership. Bangladesh’s State Minister for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) also hailed the success of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Digital Bangladesh plan. He also highlighted four priority areas identified by the Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, for building a developed and tech-savvy Bangladesh.
Artificial intelligence, special robotics, microprocessor chip design, and cyber security are among the subjects covered. Later, two Memorandums of Understanding between Bangladesh and India were also extended for a five-year period in order to sustain the outstanding bilateral cooperation in the fields of information technology and cyber security.
The Memorandum of Understanding on information technology and electronics aims to strengthen cooperation in a variety of areas, such as e-governance, m-governance, e-public service delivery, research, development and innovation, start-up development, capacity building, and exchange of best practices.
The other MoU is the exchange of information about cyber-attacks and cyber-security incidents, cyber-security technology cooperation, cyber-security policies, and human resource development in compliance with each country’s applicable laws and regulations on an equal, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial basis. The MoUs were signed in the presence of the two ministers by Muhammad Imran, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, and K. Rajaraman, Telecom Secretary of India, on behalf of their respective countries.
