India (commonwealth) _ Mitchell Starc, an Australian bowler, has become the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). At the auction in Dubai on Tuesday, he was purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 24.75 crore.

Starc has now replaced his skipper, Pat Cummins, who was the most expensive player in IPL history when he was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for 20.50 crore.

The pacer sparked a minute-long bidding battle, with the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) going first. After they backed out, Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) launched an even greater bidding battle, outbidding SRH by Rs 20.50 crore. GT eventually backed out at 24.75 crore, and KKR landed Starc for a record-breaking sum. Spencer Johnson is sold to Gujarat Titans for Rs. 10 crore.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in Dubai on Tuesday, uncapped Indian batter Sameer Rizwi was sold to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for 8.4 crore, while another uncapped batter Shubham Dubey was sold to Rajasthan Royals (RR).

There was a bidding battle between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals for Dubey, and he was finally purchased by the defending champions. Punjab Kings paid a record 11.75 crores for Indian pacer Harshal Patel in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction in Dubai.

Patel became the IPL 2024 auction’s second-richest player. The Indian speedster started at 2 crores. Harshal played T20 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during the 2023 IPL season. In his IPL career, he has played 92 matches and taken 111 wickets.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) paid 5 crores for South African pacer Gerald Coetzee. Coetzee had a starting price of 2 crore. After MI entered the contest, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made the opening bid for the South African. After then, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) entered the bidding battle after CSK had relocated. Finally, the Mumbai-based team achieved victory and featured Coetzee in their lineup.

The 23-year-old has yet to play in the prestigious T20 event. He did, however, have a fantastic ODI World Cup 2023 trip with the Proteas. Coetzee took six wickets in four Twenty20 Internationals. In 2023, he played his final 20-over match against India.

Daryl Mitchell, a Kiwi batting all-rounder, became the auction’s third millionaire after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) purchased him for 14 crores. The New Zealand opener did not compete in the 16th season of the IPL. His last season with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) was in 2022. He got 33 runs in two matches in the extravagant T20 competition. He will, however, wear the yellow jersey in the future season.

The total amount spendable for the 10 franchises is 262.95 crore. Each side will utilize their portion to assemble what they feel to be the finest squad. The Gujarat Titans have the most financial resources, with a budget of 38.15 crore to cover eight seats. Sunrisers Hyderabad is close behind with 34 crore for six places. The Kolkata Knight Riders are the second highest bidder, with 32.7 crore for 12 places.

This year’s sale may not be as large as the mega auction in 2022. The plethora of talent available, on the other hand, assures that it will be an entertaining and star-studded occasion. The franchises will work hard to prepare their teams for another exciting season of the Indian Premier League.

All teams have 77 places available, setting the stage for fierce rivalry and savvy bargaining. The event has grown into a prominent and much anticipated tradition throughout the years, attracting spectators for its live transmission. The IPL auction has grown to be associated with high stakes and excitement, attracting cricket fans and followers from all over the world.
